Nova Zaii (pronounced "Nova Z-eye") is an electronic producer, drummer, educator, and experience designer from Chicago. While completing two degrees in Performing Arts Technology and Jazz Studies at the University of Michigan, Zaii invented a touchless instrument called the Nova Portals. He successfully patented and has performed the Portals in a variety of curated contexts, including TEDx Chicago, Kavi Gupta Chicago, Hermês, and at major jazz festivals in New York, Chicago, and San Francisco. His solo show consists of a blend of live remixing, Dj’ing, original compositions, electrifying drumming, and fluid choreography as he engages the touchless, inter-dimensional sounds of the Nova Portals. In 2016, he cofounded the electronic-jazz group, The JuJu Exchange, which released its debut album “Exchange” in 2017 that reached the number one Jazz Album streaming position on Apple Music. He has also worked with artists including KESSWA, Vic Mensa,  Prefuse 73, Derrick Hodge, Jamila Woods, Chance the Rapper, Wendell Harrison, Shara Nova, Marcus Elliot, Tank and the Bangas, and other visionary artists. Zaii’s vision is to bring the listener into a zone of boundless creativity and creative perception, through which identity, purpose, and essence can be vividly witnessed.
